Sharing Files in OneDrive

This entry is part 2 of 2 in the series OneDrive

With Microsoft OneDrive, you can share individual files and even entire folders without attaching anything. Send an email with a link to what you’d like to share—and rest assured that everything else in your OneDrive will stay private. To share items from the OneDrive website, just select the checkbox in the upper-right corner of the item and choose Share. After you create a new Excel file, select it by hovering and clicking the circle in the upper right corner and then click Share at the top.

After clicking Share you get the following screen. If you want to email the person by sending them a link and you don’t want them to be able to edit the file, at the bottom change it by clicking the arrow and changing the Link Settings by unchecking the Allow editing box. Click Apply. The next screen allows you to copy the link. Click the Copy button. Create and email and paste the link into the body of the email.

Below are the link settings.

Your email recipients must have a Microsoft account to be able to edit any files you send to them via a link.
