Stacked Bar Chart 2 in Tableau

This entry is part 3 of 5 in the series Bar Charts Tableau

Do you want to create another stacked bar chart in Tableau? Let’s consider an example. Suppose you have a dataset that has a column of numbers and two columns of categorical information. You have Sales by product sub-category and by shipping mode. The length of the bar will represent Sales. Each sub-category will have it’s own bar. Within each bar, the Sales will be divided by Ship Mode.

I will use the Superstore dataset for this example. Here is what it looks like in Tableau.

Right now we are showing all of the Ship Modes and all of the Sub-categories but we could drag each pill to the Filters card and then Show the Filter. So we’ve added Sub-Category and Ship Mode twice. Here’s what that looks like after adding the filter. I added the two red ‘Filter” words with Photoshop.
