Many people also want to transfer their Microsoft Edge favorites to the new computer. Favorites are the websites saved in the Favorites bar or in Edge’s Favorites menu.

One option is to sign in to Microsoft Edge with the same Microsoft account on both computers and turn on synchronization. Edge can then synchronize favorites and other selected browser information automatically.

For a manual backup, you can export the favorites to an HTML file:

• Open Microsoft Edge.
• Click the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner.
• Select Favorites.
• Click the three-dot menu near the top of the Favorites panel.
• Select Export favorites.
• Save the HTML file somewhere easy to find, such as your desktop or external backup drive.

The exported file may have a name similar to:

Microsoft_Edge_Favorites.html

To import the favorites on the new computer:

• Open Microsoft Edge on the new computer.
• Click the three-dot menu.
• Select Favorites.
• Open the Favorites panel’s three-dot menu.
• Select Import favorites.
• Choose the option to import from a favorites or bookmarks HTML file.
• Select the HTML file you previously exported.

After the import, the saved websites should appear in Edge. It is a good idea to check both the Favorites bar and the Other favorites folder.

This process transfers favorites, but it does not necessarily transfer saved passwords, browsing history, extensions, open tabs, or all browser settings. Those items are normally handled through Edge synchronization or through separate export and backup methods.
