Tableau Reader is a free Desktop software package by Tableau that you can use to open and interact with data visualizations built in Tableau and shared locally. Tableau Reader is like a Tableau viewer.
Users of Tableau Reader can Interact with visualizations and dashboards created in Tableau. When the creator saves his/her work, they can save it to a “packaged workbook“, with a twbx file name extension. Tableau Desktop saves the work in a special way so that the data and visualizations are saved in the same file. Tableau Reader allows you to open and interact with Tableau workbooks, but not develop them. It works in a similar way to a PDF viewer.
You can download and install Tableau Reader with the above link first mentioned at the top of this post. In the webpage there will be a blue button you can click to answer a few questions and download the app.
Tableau Public is another free app from Tableau. You can develop visualizations with it and save them.
