- Tableau Dashboard Introduction
Are you interested in creating a dashboard in Tableau? I will create a fairly simple interactive dashboard in this post.
Below is an example of a dashboard created in Tableau, using the Sample – Superstore dataset. I made it a bit smaller than the standards size so that it would fit more easily on a browser screen. It’s 800 by 600.
This dashboard is made of three worksheets that were created before creating the dashboard. They were dragged onto the dashboard interface and arranged accordingly.
To add a simple dashboard action, like a filter, select the sheet you want to apply the filter from and select Use as Filter option. It’s a small icon that looks like a funnel. Choose Dashboard (from the menu) Actions. Select the action in the list and click the Edit button to get the below popup. Make the changes. First give it a name such as All Sheets Interactivity. Since we want all three charts to be able to filter, check all the boxes as shown.
Now you can use all three charts to filter the data by clicking and all the graphs will automatically adjust.
Here is a beginner article on the Tableau website called Create a Dashboard.
Tableau Actions
Tableau actions will be the next topic that you may want to learn about because Tableau actions give Tableau interactivity.
