- QuickBooks Online Reports
Reports are items that you will be viewing constantly as a bookkeeper. They are on the left panel. You can customize reports and save your customizations in the Custom reports section of Reports. For example, you may want to set the dates for a report. You can also export reports to Microsoft Excel, comma-separated value (CSV) files, and PDFs. A link to a listing of the reports available to each subscription level is here. The Plus has many more reports than the Easystart and Essentials.
When you open Reports from the left panel sidebar you are greeted with three tabs: Standard, Custom reports and Management reports. The reports are grouped into the following categories.
- Favourites
- Business overview
- Who owes you
- Sales and customers
- What you owe
- Expenses and suppliers
- Employees
- For my accountant
QuickBooks has two main types or styles of reports: Classic Reports and Modern View Reports. I prefer the Classic “old” Reports.
The first report you may want to look at is the Trial Balance. Change the dates in the top left of the screen to All Dates. Click Run Report. Click Save Customization and change the name from Trial Balance to something like Trial Balance All Dates. The Trial Balance is a summary report. It shows the totals for each account in the chart of accounts.
Let’s customize the Customer Balance Detail. Go to Reports and then go to Standard and scroll down to Customer Balance Detail in the Who owes you section. It may already be set to All Dates. Set to how you want it. Click Save customization.
