To encourage your customers to pay their invoices early, you may decide to offer them terms.
In order to give the early pay discount to a customer, you must record an invoice with the terms that are chosen from the terms list.
What does the bookkeeper do when the company receives the money in time to get the early pay discount?
- Re-open the invoice from the payments window
- Check the terms listed
- Determine if the customer is eligible for the discount
- If they are eligible, put the discount percent (2 or 3 or whatever) in the discount field.
- Save the invoice
- Record the payment (in the Receive payment window)
All of these steps go together. When you do the 5th step, you must do the 6th step.
