Psychotherapy

This entry is part 3 of 9 in the series Psychology

At the turn of the 20th century, psychology was still divided. In the USA, the approach was mainly behaviorism, whereas in Europe it was psychotherapy. What’s the difference? Sigmund Freud’s theories focused on psychopathology and treatment rather than mental processes and behavior. Freud’s ideas were based on observation and case histories rather than experimental evidence.

Psychotherapy focusses on the unconscious mind and development in early childhood.
