This is a brand-new course from Coursera. It was just released on April 6, 2023, less than a week ago from the time of this writing. It has a heavy focus on Python. It’s similar to the IBM course on Coursera, which focuses on Python, not R language. It takes about 6 months to do if you study under 10 hours per week. Most people do it in a lot less time than 6 months, but you can go at your own speed and take as long as you like.
There is a first course on data analytics by Google called Google Data Analytics.
On YouTube, Alex the Analyst reviews this new course in his video called Google Advanced Data Analytics Professional Certificate First Look | Is it Worth it? This course is so new that Alex hasn’t had a chance to take the course yet. He said he will take it. Just going over the syllabus, he rates it a 9 out of 10. He’s biased toward Python and not so much R language. Also the video is sponsored by Coursera, but Alex promises not to be bias.
Here’s a list of the seven courses in the course.
- Foundations of Data Science
- Get Started with Python
- Go Beyond the Numbers: Translate Data into Insights
- The Power of Statistics
- Regression Analysis: Simplify Complex Data Relationships
- The Nuts and Bolts of Machine Learning
- Google Advanced Data Analytics Capstone
The first two courses are what you expect, an introduction. Things pick up in the third course as it gets into exploratory data analysis, cleaning data and visualizing them in Tableau. Course four is on statistics. This is Alex’s favorite one. Regression analysis goes in depth on the topic, particularly linear regression. Machine learning is great, but it might be a bit out of scope for a data analyst. This is in scope for a data scientist. This course goes more in-depth than the first course.
